Looking at the shape of the dress, the high waist based on the lines of the skirt coming to a point above her hand on her hip, the elbow length narrow sleeves, the hair is worn down but looks like a small portion is pulled back... Looks like regency period perhaps? Perhaps war of 1812? I found the titles of the books on another site, and they have a decidedly wartime theme, and there were very few wars on American soil and each era had certain shapes to the fashions... Civil war would have fuller rounder skirts and lower waistlines, revolutionary war would have had ruffled sleeves and/or wider skirts at the sides, this silhouette has straight skirt and high waist. Definitely bears thinking on! Another thought would be a western theme, there were a good many battles fought out that way too, and simpler dress styles were more prominent. It's going to bug me till it comes :o).
On other sites, it says she is from 1812 and the Titanic was 1912. She probably lives by a large body of water and is from the south. I wonder what she'll look like!!!
i am going to get a My American Girl Doll but am going to wait and see if Caroline looks more like me. AG has confirmed she is from 1812 and will be released September 4, 2012. Glad I could help!

ReplyDeleteAbbott is an old English name that migrated to Ireland and The War of 1812 was England. Her story might have something to do with that.
